Baking and Creating My Own Clay
Baking Clay
On Tuesday I made a bowl out of clay. I had to make the mixture and then mold a shape or bowl which I wanted to paint. Then I put it in the oven to cook, once it had cooked we let it cool down and then I painted it. I have mine sitting in my room so I can put treasures in it.
Here is the recipe my mum, brother and i used if anyone would like to try
4 cups of flour
1 cup salt
1 1/2 cups water
Mix until it forms a dough, roll out smooth and create your masterpiece
Bake in the oven on 180dg for 1 hour.

Nana and Granddad are very proud of what you have made Landon. I hope you get alot of treasures to go in your bowl. I just love your profile saying you want to be in the army when you grow up, obviously you are looking ahead in life. Well done. x
ReplyDeleteThanks I keep it in my room.
DeleteAwesome creation Landon. Loving your concentration while you paint. What have you put in your bowl? Do you have it in a special place?
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome Landon and I think I too would like to make a treasure bowl-it would be perfect to store my keys-I'm always misplacing them.Did you need to use a special paint that sealed the clay?Thank you for sharing the recipe and showing us your beautiful bowl.
ReplyDeleteThankyou. It was fun and no you can use any paint, we just used acrylic.
DeleteWell done
ReplyDeleteGreat work Landon. Always a great feeling to make something with your own hands. We have a bit of a flour shortage here, so I might need to wait to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteHave you found any good treasures to keep in it yet?

Kia ora Landon. My name is Kate Mclachlan and I am the Deputy Principal from Hornby Primary in Christchurch. I love your bowl and I would call it a masterpiece too! I really like that you have added the star and the circle to the side of your bowl. I noticed in your photo you made these separately. How did you add them to your bowl? I wish I had seen your post sooner because I would have loved to share your recipe with my students and maybe they could have had a go and creating something too. Well done on completed such a good quality blog post. hope your first day back at school goes well if you are planning on returning on Monday.
